Nobody leaves our table hungry! Especially from the north woods of the dairy state, these are samples of breakfasts served at the Anton-Walsh House . . .Every breakfast at the Anton-Walsh House is a two-course meal. You'll start with fresh ground coffee, fresh orange juice (never from concentrate!), filtered ice water, a platter of fresh fruit and warm-from-the-oven muffins that are the creation of our chef Gene Cisewski. After that first course, enjoy your entrees which may include ... # Hot wild rice & cranberry pudding with cream, sizzling pork sausage links. # A hearty, piping hot Italian frittata. This Mediterranean version of an omelet is filled with sweet Italian sausage, roasted red bell peppers, caramelized onions and topped with fresh grated asiago cheese. # Belgian waffles (sometimes made with fine ground almonds, pecans or walnuts). Enjoy this with a side of ham, oven-rack-roasted bacon or sausage and your choice of toppings may include: real maple syrup, caramelized bananas with pecans & whipping cream, fresh berries. # Eggs Benedict. Prepared fresh while you're enjoying your first course, we use fresh eggs, real Canadian bacon, toasted English muffins and a homemade hollandaise with just a hint of cayenne. # Our own Southwestern style corned beef hash with corn meal muffins (this is not that stuff you find in a can!). A day ahead of time Chef Gene roasts a corned beef brisket which is then julienne cut and mixed with caramelized sweet onions, roasted red bell peppers, hash browned local potatoes and seasoned with a hint of chili powder and fresh cilantro. # Stuffed French Toast! Thick golden brown slices of French bread dipped in a rich batter and then grilled to a nice golden brown with a lightly sweet filling of Italian Mascarpone cream cheese, ground pecans, maple syrup, Gene's homemade natural vanilla, orange zest and nutmeg. This is served with sausage or other smoked meat. Other treats ... When visitors stay during premium holiday times, we go all out for you. That includes extras ... like on New Years Day, we roast half a ham to carve unlimited servings for you to go along with your main course. And depending upon the season, there may be other treats in store for you, like ... Smoked trout, salmon or whitefish fresh from Lake Superior served with toast and cream cheese; served as part of your first course. Unique sausages like homemade Swedish potato sausage, Ukrainian sausage, Polish Krakowska sausage, and real white Polish sausage that's nothing like the overly salted commercial varieties.
Hot tea or colas may be substituted for coffee if you let us know your preference in advance. To check availability, use the handy email form at the bottom of the Rooms & Reservations page, or call the Anton-Walsh House directly at 715/561-2065. |
